This guide can help you with the work that follows a completed job satisfaction survey. You will receive good advice on how to interpret the GAIS report and gain a better understanding of the test results.
NOTE: Please be aware that some analysis tools are included in our paid subscriptions - GAIS Pro, Premium and Enterprise. If you encounter something you do not have access to, please contact us to learn more about our subscriptions.
Map
The overview map shows a summary of your survey, including the overall scores and response rate. The response rate is shown at the bottom left. A good and valid response rate is estimated to be approximately 75-85%. To access your company report, select See Report.
Front Page
You are viewing the front page of the report. You get a quick overview of the most important aspects of your test, as well as selected recommendations based on the test results.
Dive into the Survey Results
GAIS provides a range of tools that help in different ways to understand the results of your survey. The tools can be found in the blue frame at the top and on the left side.
Benchmark, segments, and switching between reports
Compare - benchmark
In the upper right corner, you can select a benchmark - either in the form of the industry your company is part of or the Job Satisfaction Index. If you choose the Job Satisfaction Index, you compare the company's employees against the general Danish wage earner, across industries, demographics, etc. You can also choose to compare a segment of the report with the overall report or to compare with a report you have previously created.
Please note that industry benchmarks are included in paid subscriptions.
The entire report or a segment?
You can choose to look at the entire report or at segments of the report. In the middle of the blue bar, you can select a specific segment you want to dive into. Pay attention to whether you are in the main report or in a segment of the report when you move around in the analysis tools.

Switch between tests
If you have created multiple surveys, you can easily switch between them. You do this by pressing the arrow in the upper left corner. Now you can select the test you want to work with.
Priorities
Focus map
With the Focus map, you can get an overview of which factors are most important in the organization. This information is valuable when you subsequently look into the scores of the individual factors. The focus map is based on the employees' scores as well as their ranking of the factors' importance. The Y-axis shows scores and the X-axis shows importance. The Focus map has four areas: 1 - Improve first, 2 - Maintain momentum, 3 - Develop if possible, 4 - Give least focus.
Explanation: The factors are placed relatively, in relation to each other, on the map. That is, a focus map for a company/department with scores from 50-70 may well resemble a focus map for a company/department with scores from 70-90.
Analysis
In the left-hand menu, you will find a whole range of tools that, in various ways, help you to analyze and understand the survey results. You can sort and select data in relation to the filters and segments you have set up in the test.
Development
The "Development" menu item is not activated in connection with the first GAIS survey. However, in the long term, you can use this function to follow the company's development over time, at the factor and question level. By using your filters, it is also possible to follow the development for a specific department, an age group, etc.
Factors
You getan overview of the job satisfaction score and the seven factors. You can see average scores at the factor and question level. The factors are placed chronologically – from the highest scoring to the lowest scoring. Job satisfaction is always placed at the top regardless of the score.
Heatmap (available in paid subscriptions)
With Heatmap, you get a broad and quick overview in a different and visual way. In one color-coded image, the scores for all factors are displayed combined with, for example, all departments. All filters can be used for comparison, just as it is possible to compare at the question level. It is also possible to see a comparison with a selected benchmark in the heatmap and to create actions directly from the figures that stand out.
Spread
See how the responses in your company are distributed between the scores 0 and 10. It is through the spread that we can see if there is agreement in the organization and if more employees score at the low end of the scale. So, under Spread, we can get an overview of whether there is a "tail" of employees that pulls the average down.
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths and weaknesses show how your company's responses deviate positively and negatively from either the Job Satisfaction Index, your industry, or another test you define yourself (e.g., a previous test).
Comments
Get an overview of the open comments that employees have made for each factor. In the comments area, you can navigate in these 3 functions:
- Search field - here you can search for words or phrases.
- Save your favorites for later use
- AI content analysis divided into negative, neutral and positive comments
The comments can be used to support some trends in the survey and to become even wiser about the employees' points of view. Select and save any comments that you find particularly valuable. By using the download center, you can also download all comments in a CSV file.
Own Questions
Get an overview of any added own questions and eNPS. You can use your filters to delve deeper into the responses, for example, at the department level.
Improvement

Concluding Considerations
When you have finished delving into the test results, you may want to consider the following:
- How should the survey results be presented to the organization?
- Should the overall report be available to all employees?
- How will you share the report with the managers? Via access to the GAIS platform or via PowerPoint/PDF?
3 tips for presenting the test results
- Focus on the strengths of the organization – where are things going well, what can we be proud of?
- Acknowledge the challenges in the organization – what should we do better? It can be beneficial to curiously investigate the factors and questions that score particularly low in further dialogue with employees. An Employee engament survey can rarely stand alone. Therefore, it is important that the survey results are incorporated into inclusive dialogues with employees.
- It is not recommended that the spread of the individual factors and comments be shown directly to employees.
