Segments are subsets of a survey, for example, a department or participants in a specific age group. It is an advantage to create segment when you want to share part of a report with others but do not want to give access to the entire report. Segments are based on the filters you select when setting up your survey.
Automatic segments - only for paid subscriptions
If you use the Organization function to keep track of your organization's data, you will automatically have created a number of segments via the Departments and Teams function. These automatically created segments will be available in all survey series that are linked to the organization.
Create more segments - for all GAIS users
If you want to create more segments than those automatically generated, press Edit on your overview page.
Choose Segments in the white banner. Your predefined segments based on Organization are shown here (for paid subscriptions). If you want to create more segments, press Create Segment.
Select filters: A window opens where you can create segments based on your filters. You can click multiple fields within each filter and also select answer options among multiple filters. For example, you can select both the answer options Denmark and Sweden under the Country filter while also selecting 20-29-year-olds under the Age filter. If you press the plus sign, all options will be automatically selected.
NOTE: The more filters you add, the smaller the segment size becomes. You can constantly see the number of responses as you add or remove filters to your segment. If your segment contains fewer than 5 responses, there are too few responses to ensure employee anonymity, and GAIS therefore does not allow creating a segment.
Save segment: Before you can save a segment, it must have a name, and at least one filter must be selected. Once you have selected the filters you want and named the filter, press Save Segment.
Import segments from previous survey - only for paid subscriptions
If you have many manually created segments, you do not need to recreate them every time. You can choose to import your segments from the previous survey.
Important: Please be aware that if you've already made some segments and you choose Import segments from previous survey," those segments will be overwritten. You won't be able to get them back.
Create temporary segments - for all GAIS users
You can take a closer look at the company report's results by creating temporary segments.
Go to My Reports at the top of the page. Find the company report you want to explore with temporary segments. Choose View Report.
Under Choose Segments at the top of the blue bar, you can choose your filters to see exactly the part of the survey you want. For example, you can create a temporary segment for Department and then save it as a permanent segment.
When you choose Show Segment, you can explore the results for just that specific part of the survey you've chosen. In this example, it's the participants from Sweden. So, when you pick a segment, you'll see only the answers from that chosen group.
You can use all the filters you've set up within the temporary segment. If you want to leave the temporary segment and go back to the main survey, you can swipe the segment button ind the blue bar.
Save temporary segments - for all GAIS users
A temporary segment can be saved as a permanent segment right away. Give your segment a name and Save as new segment. After that, the segment will be found in the overview of your segments.
Download segments - only for paid subscriptions
Finally, it is also possible to generate PDF/PowerPoint reports based on segments. You can find the download center at the bottom of the blue left menu. Under All Segments, you can select the segment reports you want to download.
Share segments
You can share segments with others in several different ways. Learn more here.
